Bespoke Village Lifestyle – Kirk Ireton
Kirk Ireton is a charming little hillside village. Away from main roads it is a peaceful place, there are some beautiful views across picturesque countryside. The very fine Holy Trinity church dates back to Norman times. The oldest and most interesting building is the Barley Mow, a tall gabled inn, one of the few that has remained virtually unchanged over the centuries. Kirk Ireton remains what it has always been, an agricultural village.
The village still celebrates a Wakes week, which starts on Trinity Sunday, the church's patronal festival. A procession of villagers is led by a local brass band, from the Barley Mow pub to the church for thanksgiving.
