Nearest Towns to Properties For Sale in Matlock

Nearest Cities
Derby is the UK’s most central city.  In the town centre, there are a number of independent boutiques, the relatively new Westfield shopping centre and The Derby Quad which consists of a gallery, cinema and cafe.   The City has a number and diversity of restaurants and bars and has three museums, the Derby Museum and Art Gallery, The Silk Mill and Pickford’s House Museum.  The train station is a hub for connections to all major cities
Chesterfield is just a 15 minute drive to the market town with the ‘crooked spire’ there are chain stores, independent shops and a very popular market. The city has a cinema, bars and restaurants. Renishaw Hall and Gardens provides an excellent day out. With hall, garden and vineyard tours on offer, there is plenty to see and do. Chesterfield boats a theatre and museum. The link to the Sheffield by train is frequent and very quick.
Sheffield – Free parking and a 7 minute ride to the town centre.  In population terms, Sheffield is the UK’s 3rd city, but it has more trees per capita and more parks than any other city in Europe.  Town centre shopping includes John Lewis, the Graves Art Gallery and the usual range of chains.  If you enjoy shopping indoors, the out of town, industrial East End based Meadowhall, is huge and contains most chain stores and a plethora of eateries.  However, the Sheffield we love is the South West, surrounding large teaching hospitals and two major Universities.   It boasts the Ecclesall Road, a bohemian, independent and designer filled road full of eateries and bars along with a large Waitrose and M&S Simply Food just a stone’s throw away.  The South West suburbs are amongst the wealthiest in the UK with the delights of the Peak Park on the doorstep (a third of Sheffield lies within the Peak Park).
